Here are a couple of rules that might need some clarification and certainly need to be changed in the rule book.
14.4 Special Rules for 4v4 Play
Rule: "On a second consecutive pass, if the puck goes to an empty position, treat it as an interception" Clarification: It takes three passes to create a shot when playing even strength [12.1 Pass Shots]. Because there can be a third pass, the rule should read "On a second or subsequent consecutive pass, if the puck goes to an empty position, treat it as an interception."
Rule: "Ignore rules for Blocked Shots and Screeners." Clarification: A better wording for this might be "Shots may not be blocked or screened."
14.5 Special Rules for 3v3 Play
Rule: "On a second consecutive pass, if the puck goes to an empty position, treat it as an interception"
Clarification: This is not possible when playing 3v3. Pucks that go to the LD instead go to the LW; for the RD it's the RW. This rule should be removed.
Rule: "Ignore rules for Blocked Shots, Screeners, and Clearing." Clarification: A better wording for this might be "Shots may not be blocked or screened. Rebound shots may not be cleared."
That last one means that, yes, an R result is (almost) automatically two shots when playing 3v3. (A rebound is interrupted by F?2, FX, FXn or PS2 results.)
The more you know!

Why is it that we don't have interceptions on successful passes in 3v3 but we do in 4v4? Shouldnt we change that so a successful pass in 4v4, that goes to an empty position, is re-rolled to find a new position? A successful pass should always be successful since you've passed the criteria to make the pass, the players know they are 4v4 and wouldnt pass to empty positions, similar to 3v3?

I imagine it's a remnant of when I cobbled together rules from various sources to create special rules for 4v4 and 3v3 play. I did not notice that they didn't apply to 3v3 due to another rule in place. I would suggest for the 2024-25 season that any reference to passing to empty positions in rules 14.4 and 14.5 be removed. As you say, a successful pass is a successful pass.

I think that if you are at disadvantage an interception could occur if you pass to an empty position, by the opposing teams player in that position possibly?
I like that we've made it possible for a short handed team to pass, though I have heard that in some cases it may make a PK too powerful. If it was offset by an interception by the advantaged team when a pass goes to an empty position, that might smooth out that aspect?

I have not heard that the PK is too powerful, but I understand that a good passer on the PK could rag a fair amount of time. It might be that we need to make the option to move time on a pass available 5v5 only so that the PK team has to pass twice to rag the puck.
