Pffft. Cheap shot LOL. Laine shouldn't be skating through the middle of the ice with his head down. He's not a Center so why play him as one? That's all on the CBJ coaching looney bin.
They're going to ruin hockey by labeling any physical contact as dirty soon enough, we don't need to pander to this nonsense.

I'm guessing you didn't watch the video. That's what guessing will do. Similar to assuming.

Fair enough. I gave you too much credit. I shall not do that in the future.

It seems that with team hooligan Brandon Montour off the ice for now, his spirit of truculence has bled into the rest of our D-core.

Really though...the hit wasn't late, it was hard, but I don't think he left his feet before the collision. I think that was after the fact from the impact. Laine was leaning a bit at the time of collision so I think it was more a circumstance thing than a dirty thing.
In the video explaining the reasoning behind the suspension announced Saturday, the NHL said the force of the hit on Friday night and the fact the game was out of reach at the time "combined to elevate this hit to the level of supplemental discipline."
Come on now, we know these guys skate around at 25km/h+ and these are big dudes, of course hits are going to be forceful, and just because they think the game is "out of hand"? SO players are supposed to just roll up and stop trying because some armchair doorknob thinks they should?
Then they give him 4 games for it? That seems egregious. There was no legal issue with the hit, so why is it a 4 game suspension? See my previous point.....

i disagree, i do think he left his feet early and i believe he led with the elbow as the point of contact instead of the shoulder. Now some of that maybe due to Laine reaching and therefore being lower but if Andersson doesn't leave his feet then he probably hits shoulder first.
I could see a 1 or 2 game suspension. 1 if first offense, 2 if multiple, but 4 games is way to much for the hit.

Mmmm I've watched it quite a number of times now. Originally I was just stirring the pot, so to speak. Now though...I don't think it was that bad of a hit. I am near certain that he didn't leave his feet until impact. It was a hit in a bad position and Laine got hurt, which no one wants to see of course, and I agree that it probably deserved a 1 game just because of the nature of it being full speed, open ice and I think he saw that Laine wasn't paying attention. We'd like to get rid of those kinds of hits, but hockey's a fast, fast game and it's easy for us up here in the bleachers to say he should have held up...not so easy on the ice, in the flow of the game.
What I really disagree with was that verbal diarrhea the Dept of player jokes and innuendo put out.
