Game 4 in Revelstoke starts very fortuitously for the mammoths. 3 Quality shots in the first 6 minutes sees Matt Grrzyilichuk score to put the home team up 1-0 early. The rest of the period is a fairly tight checking affair and with only Hakanpaa and Cates taking matching minors, the period ends 1-0 for the home side.
Period 2 starts with Tanev in the box at the :48 mark, but really it's all about Sorokin who stones the Patriots offense, stopping all 5 chances fired his way, while the home team cools off with only one opportunity that Kuemper turns aside.
Danault goes for 2 minutes at 12:48, but the Mammoths can't find the opportunity to extend their lead. They take a 1-0 lead into the third period.
Landeskog and Kucherov go for 2 each at 3:12, but it's the Patriots who find a goal from Thompson just as the 4-4 play expires. Game tied at 1-1.
Oleksiak goes for 2 at 5:36, but again the mammoths can't solve Kuemper. Danault and Atkinson each take 2 for roughing at 9:36, and play continues rather choppy until Petry is called for 2 minutes for high sticking at 14:00. Things don't look good, until an errant pass get's picked off by Lindell who feeds Wilson for the SH goal to put the Patriots on top 2-1 for an improbable lead.
At 16:00, a desperate coach Chang pulls Sorokin for the extra attacker and despite 2 shots by the patriots on the empty net, the game stays 2-1 until late in the last shift when Landeskog finally buries an EN goal to seal the 3-1 win and take the series 4 games to 0.
Patriots were 35 shots with 10 quality for 1ES goal, 1 SH goal and 1 EN goal.
Mammoths were 26 shots with 7 quality for 1 ES goal.
Thus concludes Belfasts repeat as NNHL Champions, and the tough road to a 3-peat begins.
