The rematch and the final game of the season for the Q-Men took place at the Quad Cities Qualcomm Quonset Hut. The Quarrymen came out with a fire in their belly and no fear in their heart as the jumped all over the visitors. It was however the Moose who opened the scoring against the run of play. With Ryan Nugent-Hopkins off for slashing, Carson Soucy put the visitors ahead at the half way point of the first period. Less than five minutes later, Cale Makar took advantage of Brandon’s inability to clear the puck from a goal math scramble to even the score at ones which is how they went into the first break. The second saw the Quarrymen continue their dominant play. Sonny Milano was awarded a penalty shot while short handed at the four minute mark of the second but Philip Grubauer was able to keep it out of the net. Elias Lindholm’s power play marker at 4:48 took away any energy the visitors had been building as the Moose were unable to generate any chances after that. 2-1 Quad Cities after two. The third period saw the home side continue to smother the visitors, the Q-Men playing their most complete game of the season. Elias Lindholm’s second of the game at 4:24 of the third doubled the lead and Claude Giroux took advantage off the ensuing face off to stretch the lead to three. The Quarrymen shut things down from there and they cruised to a dominant and deserved 4-1 win to close out the season. It makes one wonder where this team was for much of the season but gives hope for next year.
