Introduce a code (~) that indicates the player has broken their stick. Treat as an interception and player is -1 D until his team regains control of the puck or there is a stoppage in play. Every player has it on something like 6-2 (could also have a limiter like X1 to further reduce range if not a broken stick, then [stoppage, interception, ...]).

Not a fan. It means adding a rule for something that isn't significant in real life hockey.

Not sold on that.
If it's not that significant, why do commentators make such a big deal out of it when it happens and they love commenting on the left shot D with a right shot stick that a forward handed them. Watching a game when it happens, it always seems to throw the defensive positioning for a loop. Think it adds some extra flavor and realism without a lot of overhead to game play.

I don't see any real value in the rule. It just adds another thing to remember. However, as it won't impact league operations I'm fine with any decision you guys make regarding it.

Think all these goals and chances occurring in the playoffs with an opposing player having a broken stick show it does have an impact in real life hockey.
How do other people think it should work if it does happen?

Starting to do some work around the "special" code (possibly &) that will have multiple possible results that spawned from the discussion at the AGM. Will let Steve determine the placement of the code on the card so that he can work it into the calculations with the understanding that it should be me more likely then a 1 in 216 chance (5-5 anyone?).
& - B-B-Breakdown 1-4 Broken Stick: Player loses puck (interception), all passing factors and is -1 D, FC, B, and Intimidation (0 min) until there is a stoppage in play or his team regains puck possession. Time does not advance 5 Bench Minor: Team possessing the puck is called for a bench minor penalty. One of the players on the ice must serve the infraction (coaches choice). Time advances 6 Break Away: If the player is OP then it is an interception. Otherwise the player is sprung on a breakaway.
Looking for input on the Breakaway as it wasn't part of the original proposal. Do we want to go with a range where the goalie can not save (similar to a penalty shot) or do we want to give an increased range to the player for a hard shot that the goalie can save? If we go to an increased range for the player, do we want a flat range that's the same for all players or do we want to increase the player's normal range (ex. 2-6(3) goes to 4-6(3))? Given that there is some fudging around player's ranges I'll leave it to Steve to weigh in on the practicality of that option but tend to like it as it would reward "accurate" shooters (although as mentioned, a player's range is no longer necessarily a direct reflection of the player's shooting accuracy).
