What does everyone think of the trades from today? A couple of big deals and at least one smaller one.
What's next for our local hockey heroes?

The Caps got swindled into taking on that albatross contract and player for a veteran goal tender who might have a coup0le more top caliber seasons in him with a good defense in front of him. I think Kuemper rebounds and Dubois flames out in another NHL franchise because of his shit work ethic and compete level.
Markstrom to NJ for Bahl and a first (top 10 protected) is ok. Bahl could very well end up a solid #2 pairing LD with a pinch of offensive upside. Good underlying metrics and plays a good first outlet pass. CGY getting a 1st in addition, even middle of the pack is reasonable IMO.
Goodrow and Delandrea to SJ sounds good. Delandrea will get more ice time and opportunity, he'll be on the 1st unit PK and probably 2nd or 3rd line C/R. Goodrow should get lot's of opportunity and if he posts a decent 20ish goal season his next contract might be a decent one to finish out his career.

I also think the Caps got swindled, but only because they are both useless and PLD has a much longer contract.
Markstrom deal is interesting since it's going to compromise Calgary's goaltending a lot. Not sure Wolf is ready or even good.
I'm not sure about Goodrow and Delandrea. They both play similar roles and I'm sure that SJ has half a dozen other guys like them. Will be interesting how they slot in.

[Puts on Truth Cap™.]
PLD will pay off if he rebounds. He'll certainly get the chance given his salary. He'll be C2 again, this time behind Strome. Maybe he'll get paired up with career building talents like "10 Goal" TJ Oshie and Sonny "Locker Room Issue" Milano. Who knows? Can we count on him to be near the top of the league in minor penalties? You bet!
Bahl is 3rd pair at best, so second pair on the Flames. He appeared in 82 games last year because his coworkers were overpaid. 78 inches of hits with the speed of a tortoise and the hockey sense of a popcorn bag. Still, maybe playing with Daniil Miromanov will help his play develop to hahahaha, couldn't hold it in. He has the offensive upside of Randy Holt.
Barklay Goodrow has never scored more than 13 goals, scored 4 last year, and has a career that prorates to 8 goals per 82. His production has shrunk three straight years. He's a 4th line centre who hangs on because of his PK skills. Nice guy, but can you say salary dump? Spoiler alert: 1-8 range. Tops.
Looking for someone who scores even less? Then look no further than Ty Dellandrea, a prorated 7-goal scorer who finds himself on a San Jose team that has only one other right winger with an NHL career. Just how he likes it: he looks best when there's nobody else to look at. Overpaid at the league minimum. Spoiler alert: 1-6 range.
Markstrom is good. Very good.
[Realizes he put on the Chippy Cap™. Fades into hedges.]
