Game 1 - Chelsea 7, Viking 3
Shots: Chelsea 47 (9 Hard against Vejmelka) - Viking 27 (6 Hard against Demko)
The first period was a wild one with seven goals. Toropchenko opened the scoring for Viking, then three quick goals from Marchment, Harvey-Pinard and Hall put Chelsea up 3-1. Tolvanen, who has been snakebit all year, finally realizes which net to shoot at and pots his first two goals of the year (the second being on a broken stick breakaway) to tie it up. Harvey-Pinard scores his second to put Chelsea up 4-3 at the end of the first. The hard shots dry up for Viking after that with only 2 for the remainder of the game, while Chelsea gets two more in the second (Vilardi & Harvey-Pinard's hat trick goal), and one more in the third (Mcleod).
Game 2 - Viking 3, Chelsea 2
Shots: Viking 36 (5 Hard against Spencer Martin) - Chelsea 34 (4 Hard against Ullmark)
The mission all series and last season was to have Tyson Barrie score on Barry. So far no luck, but here's hoping against a sub-.400 goalie. Pretty much a pillow fight all game, with few chances on either team. Svechnikov put Chelsea ahead 1-0 at the end of the first, and Tuch tied it up in the second. Chelsea got an early goal in the third from Bjorkstrand. Then, at exactly 10:00 of the third, Barrie fires a blast from the point past Martin to tie it up. Finally, Barrie scored on Barry (we were rooting for it the whole time)! It was then the realization started to sink in that a win for Viking would dash Chelsea's playoff aspirations and the potential of a lottery pick for Viking. So of course, I screw everything up with a PP goal at 19:12 of the third. Thanks, Dickinson, you big idiot.
Of note, all three goals against Martin would have been goals against Ullmark. Goalies are voodoo.
Fun games all around, and Viking ends the season almost doubling our win total from last year! Progress!
