By the way, the best goaltending in the CHL this year belongs to Houston (130), Shamrockville (129) and Revelstoke (127). The worst belongs to Cole Harbour (103), Bonavista (109) and Oxford (113). We're number 1! We're number 1! Might be the only thing I win all year!

Another good reason to not have a league goalie. With this many there is no valid excuse for being short games. League goalie just gives a team a free player and an easy tank excuse.

Well, until a goodwill gesture, Barry would have been the only GM that would have had to use one ;-).
Sorry Barry, below the belt I know.

Oh, I know that Daniel. I would have been forced to use one or more of my picks to get a goalie in the draft due to my bad luck/bad planning. A free goalie shouldn't have been an option for me.

This where I like your (Barry's) idea of the two league goalie system where one is the best goalie in the NHL and the other is the worst and your opponent gets to choose which one you play. I'd also then propose that the league goalie can't be injured - if you have to play them, you have to play them.

Yes I was going to mention that as well. For all my poking at Barry over that this year,he easily has the best idea for the league goalie solution. This is something we should really consider this year.

Basically there are two league goalies. The first is very strong, perhaps equal to the top rated goalie in the league. The second is the conventional league goalie, bad.
Whenever you play the league goalie your opponent chooses which one you use. In this way if you are trying to throw games your opponent (particularly if they are competing with you for a good pick) can choose the strong goalie for you to play. In the second instance if you are trying to get a good record but chose not to trade for a legit goalie to play, your opponent could select a weak goalie for you to play.
I don't know when someone played a league goalie last so while it is an interesting proposal, it seems like a bit of an outlier.

Well, until a goodwill gesture, Barry would have been the only GM that would have had to use one ;-). Had I not drafted Schmid, I believe I would have needed to use the league goalie -- not some league-distributed facsimile mind you, but the authentic original itself. Between that and Brossoit going back to Winnipeg where he might not get 15 games this year, well, thus my draft plans.

To be clear. I'm fine with getting rid of the league goalie entirely. It will encourage more trading which is one of the key aspects of any decision that we propose.
However, teams like Barry's, who needed to make a deal for a goalie, may end up being short games. With the goalies tending to be low game goalies in the draft, drafting enough games may not even have been an option for Barry should he have intended to solve it.
